HyperTeams vs workflow automation

n8n, Zapier, and Make repeat a defined procedure reliably. HyperTeams takes the work whose procedure is not defined.

The short version

These two are not really competing. An automation tool freezes "when this, do that" into boxes and arrows, and at that job it is more reliable and cheaper than HyperTeams. HyperTeams is the other side: work whose procedure cannot be drawn in advance, handed over in a sentence, with the result checked afterwards. We have written into the product boundary that we will not build a no-code canvas. So attaching the two is usually the right answer — the drawable procedure stays there, and only the step that used to need a human comes here.

What the control room does, and what Connect does

HyperTeams is two products. Which of them answers each row above is exactly where the boundary sits.

HyperTeams control room

Runs the work on your machine

A program you install with one command. It assigns work per folder, runs jobs in parallel, and keeps going after you close the window. While you work alone, this is all you need.

The rows it answers
  • Where it runs
  • Several jobs at once
  • How far along it is
  • If you close the window
  • At a set time

HyperTeams Connect

Makes it something others rely on, unattended

It starts paying the moment there is a second machine and a second person: pooling machines into one list, filtering work others assign through approval, keeping an audit trail of what happened, and splitting cost per person.

The rows it answers
  • Several machines in one place
  • When someone else assigns work
  • Retracing it later
  • What it cost

When do you move up a rung?

  1. L1 · Observe

You watch several machines. The moment there is a second one.

  2. L2 · Share

The team sees what was asked for. The moment you start sharing one password.

  3. L3 · Delegate

Others assign work and see the results. This is where approval, policy, and audit earn their place.

Where they diverge

Can the procedure be drawn?

HyperTeams control room
these automation tools

You wire nodes and draw branches. What can be drawn runs reliably; what cannot be drawn cannot be started.

HyperTeams control room

Intent arrives as a sentence. Not building boxes and arrows is a design decision, not a gap.

When it needs a judgement

HyperTeams control room
these automation tools

You can drop an LLM node in, but the flow itself is still exactly what a person laid out in advance.

HyperTeams control room

The agent decides what to do in what order; the person sees the result and the approvals in between.

In front of a risky step

HyperTeams Connect
these automation tools

If you need an approval step, you build it into the workflow yourself.

HyperTeams Connect

"Ask me first" exists per folder and per command out of the box, and the approval is kept as its own record.

Which one should you pick?

When to just use an automation tool

  • When the services are already decided

The connector count is not comparable. Wiring two SaaS products you already use takes minutes there.

  • When the same input must give the same output

Settlements, vouchers, alerts — procedures that must not vary are better frozen than judged.

  • When it runs thousands of times a day

The per-run price is on a different scale. Repetition that needs no judgement is far cheaper there.

When HyperTeams is the answer

  • When the procedure cannot be drawn in advance

    HyperTeams control room

Work that does not reduce to "when this, do that" — different material each time, a judgement each time — is the seat HyperTeams takes. You hand over the intent in a sentence.

  • When you want to shrink the step a human sat in

    HyperTeams control room

The step left out of the flow because "a person has to look at this." Hand that seat over and read the result and the approvals in between.

  • When a risky step needs an approval

    HyperTeams Connect

Instead of building an approval step into the workflow yourself, "ask me first" exists per folder and per command out of the box, and the approval is kept as its own record.

Running both

  1. 1

    Leave your automation running

Keep the drawable procedures where they are.

  2. 2

Hand over only the step that needs judgement

Mid-workflow, post one job to the HyperTeams API, take the result, and carry on down the flow.

  3. 3

Shrink the place a human had to sit

The step left out of the automation because "a person has to look at this" is the seat HyperTeams takes.

Common questions

A layer, not a replacement

Put it on top of what you already run

One command to install. Nothing you use today gets removed or moved — you only add the command screen above it.
